Your Immune System, How Can You Support Yours?

Your immune system is comprised of the thymus gland, spleen, bone marrow and the lymphatic system. Bacteria and viruses tend to settle in where they can easily access mucus membranes, specifically the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory tract. So, if the immune system is weakened due to stress, age, diet, or genetics you had better do something to strengthen your army as it goes to war against invasive “bugs”.

Reducing stress seems like a no brainer, however many of us are so use to being stressed we just don’t realize how stressed we are. If this sounds like you, give me a call, I’ll assist you in handling “stress”naturally..

To reduce the chance of an infection of any type, your tissues have to be strong and your detox pathways need to be working well. To keep your immune system in top working order there are a number of things you can do.

First, the obvious: sleep, eat a clean diet, and hydrate. In fact, now is the time to lose those habits such as sugar, tobacco and alcohol.

Keeping your immune system in top “ready mode” is fairly easy. I personally take Cod Liver Oil (for its Vitamin A & D) Immunplex (a unique multi immune support product) and Echinachea Premium (keeps the immune system vigilant and can be taken every day).

I keep my vitamin D levels up near 60 as measured by a blood test.

To strengthen mucous membranes I like Vitamin A, Vitamin C can help but you need to take C Complex as mother nature intended and not just ascorbic acid that the government says is Vitamin C (who would you trust?)

First line of defense before you have any flu like symptoms:

I highly recommend “Cod Liver Oil” for its vitamin A and vitamin D properties. After all it was good enough for our grandparents and great-grandparents and it’s still good enough for us today as well! I also suggest taking “Immuplex and Echinacea Premium.”

Immuplex blends essential micronutrients and minerals as well as Protomorphogen™ and Cytosol™ extracts to support the immune system.*

Taken daily, supports a healthy immune system response function

Helps maintain normal white blood cell activity already within a normal range

Supports the body’s normal inflammatory response function as it relates to periodic challenges like consumption of a high-fat meal or strenuous activity

Provides ingredients with antioxidant activity

High in antioxidant vitamins C and E* 1

Echinacea Premium combines the whole root extracts of Echinacea angustifolia and Echinacea purpurea in a patented and optimized alkylamide ratio. Echinacea root has been used traditionally to:

Help enhance healthy immune system function*

Support upper respiratory tract health*

Help relieve temporary mild throat discomfort associated with hoarseness, dry throat and irritants*

Contrary to what some say, you can take this every day and even year-round.” 2

Zinc should also be considered part of your immune regimen. I have a Zinc Taste Test in the office I will perform on you for free. It takes a minute to do.

Vitamin C as mother nature intended. This would be a food derived product and emphasis on dietary rich C foods. I have tablets as well.

Astragalus Complex is a strong tonic blend containing Astragalus, Echinacea purpurea root and Eleuthero.” 3  This immune booster has been found to be high in Selenium. SE is known to prevent viruses. Since most soils and foods today do not have much SE it might be a good idea to consider Astragalus.

Second defensive effort

Ok let’s say you are coming down with the flu. Just a touch of symptoms so far. This is what I would do:

If I have sore throat symptoms I use an Herbal Throat Spray. Every hour if needed.

I increase some foods but I do not over eat. Excellent foods such as garlic, lemons, green tea, cayenne and chicken soup.

I would increase the dose of Vitamin C complex to every hour. A favorite is Cataplex AC.

I would take an herbal anti-viral product such as Viranon which contains:

“Thuja, St John’s Wort and Licorice. These herbs provide many phytochemicals including an essential oil (containing monoterpenes and other terpenes), the naphthodianthrones hypericin and pseudohypericin (hypericins), flavonoids, phenolics, triterpenoid saponins (especially glycyrrhizin) and other saponins. This product contains two herbs with standardized levels of key phytochemicals to ensure optimal strength and quality. The St John’s Wort component is standardized to contain 675 mcg of hypericins per tablet, and the Licorice component of this tablet is standardized to contain 30 mg of glycyrrhizin per tablet.”4

These herbs have been used traditionally to:

“Help maintain and support healthy immune system function, regulation and response

Help promote the body’s normal resistance function

Encourage the body’s normal healthy defense system by supporting healthy immune system function” 4

I would also consider Congaplex which is used for short-term support of the immune system.

“Supports healthy immune system function

Supports the thymus gland

Contains ribonucleic acid, which the body uses to build new cells

Contains a combination of key ingredients from Cataplex® A-C, Thymex®, Calcium Lactate®, and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA)*” 5

I can give you more specifics on dosage if you email or call me. The reason I use these products it that they work and some have even been around for decades and are not just passing fads. The herbal line is from Australia and of such high quality it makes me wonder what is in the herbs made here. In some cases, I use separate products. Usually extracts of thymus, spleen in addition to herbs that flush your systems or reduce mucous secretions naturally. I do have other vegetarian immune boosters as well. I strongly endorse the old fashion remedy of “hot baths”. I recommend this when your body should have a fever or when the fever is persisting. The idea is to increase your temperature and break the fever. There are some risks however. Again, you can call me for more info on this approach.

By taking all these methods and applying them, you are sure to give your immune system the dire support that it needs to fight and keep you safe during this time. Between our typical flu/cold season and with spring bringing seasonal allergies and even now with the COVID-19 outbreak it is imperative that we all take measures to ensure safety. Stay safe my friends.
