If you are experiencing pain, we want to help! We are dedicated to helping patients regain pain-free lives. Oftentimes, people do not seek help for pain until it worsens. We want to help at the onset of symptoms, so they do not progress.

Where Do You Live?

Most of us live in the NQR area and hopefully not in the disease/pathology area. Yet for the most part, we all started in the optimal health area and through the years, we end up coping in the NQR area. We get to the NQR are via injuries, infections, age, stresses of all kinds, habits, life styles, etc..

The medical profession specializes in the disease/pathology realm. Alternative health care givers work in the NQR area. How often have you heard of someone (maybe you) who went to the MD with symptoms only to be told, “All the tests were normal, go home and call me is it gets worse”? All too often, I’m afraid. Well working in the NQR area is not always easy in that you have less to measure via standard tests. This is where my tools of chiropractic, nutrition, applied kinesiology come into play. These methods assist me in determining not only what is not “quite right” but also why and what to do about it. Therefore, if you or someone you know is “NQR” they need to do something to handle the situation and prevent the progression toward “Dis-Ease”. This is a battle we all have to deal with and with health care costs on the rise; it behooves us to be proactive to feel better while saving money and suffering down the road.

Myofascial Release 6985 Woodstock Rd (Rte 4)<br />Quechee, VT 05059

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is an intervention administered to various patients to alleviate pain or restrictive tissue problems. The release treatment usually involves the application of gentle or moderate pressure on the connective tissues and leads to relaxation and eventual elongation of the fascia therein. These restrictions are often caused by traumatic accidents or inflammations of the soft tissue. Some patients get them as an after-effect of surgery. They always result in muscular tension and spasm of sharp pain. They cannot be detected through standard diagnosis tests like the x-ray scan. It is essential for a patient to visit a doctor or physiotherapy expert once they notice restriction of movement in the hip area or shoulder. Painful backs can also be a sign of the restriction and can only be treated through the Myofascial Release procedures.

What to expect during therapy
If you have never undergone a Myofascial Release procedure before, you might wonder what will be done. There is no need to panic any way, since it is a minor therapy intervention meant to alleviate any pain that could be as a result of fascia muscle pain and restriction. Here is what you can expect if you visit a standard therapist for your myofascial pain treatment.

  • The therapist might have to interview you about what you think the cause of the pain could be. They may also palpitate the affected area to identify the particular fascia that needs to be massaged and given due attention during the procedure.
  • A standard treatment should last anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, but should not last longer than that as that may lead to soreness and fatigue.
  • You may experience considerable relief, but if the case is severe, you may need to go for another session or two in the subsequent days.
  • The treatment does not require the use of any equipment and creams or gels. The therapist will only need their hands to manipulate and apply slight pressure to the trigger points and affected muscles.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy is a chiropractic treatment used to help reduce muscle pain and increase range of motion. By using sound waves, we are able to stimulate deep inside the tissue. This minimizes stiffness, swelling, and pain while also promoting circulation, and pain-free movement.

Stretching

Stretching is vital to helping your muscles remain flexible, strong, and healthy. Flexibility allows our joints to maintain a full range of motion, which, in turn, keeps our muscles from becoming shortened, tight, and tender to move. At Wholistic Health Services of Vermont, we offer Active Release Technique (ART) stretching, which utilizes both tissue manipulation and movement to improve muscle health.

ART promotes blood flow and faster healing of injuries by identifying, isolating, and targeting affected areas so we can effectively break up adhesions. Adhesions are dense bundles of scar tissue caused by injuries, either gradual or acute, to the muscles and connective tissue. When the scar tissue bonds to your other tissues, it can result in pain and stiffness in muscles and joints. Additionally, adhesions can even entrap nerves, leading to a host of potential problems, including soreness, numbness, and stiffness.

Signs you may have adhesions:

  • Stiffness in your neck, back, elbows, hands, or knees
  • Increased pain when exercising
  • Sharp pain near the bottom of your heel
  • Pain, numbness, and tingling in your fingers
  • Limited flexibility and range of motion
  • Diminished strength
  • Joint inflammation
  • Tingling, numbness, or weakness

Conditions we can help through ART include:

  • Lower back pain
  • Chronic neck pain
  • Frozen shoulder and shoulder strains
  • Sciatic nerve pain
  • Tension headaches
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Shin splints
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Bursitis
  • Tennis elbow

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms or conditions listed above, we’d love to help you regain range of motion and live your life more comfortably. Please call our office at (802) 296-6030 today for an appointment!
